State police are investigating a single-car crash that left one person dead early Sunday morning in Hempstead.

Just after 5:30 a.m., a car driving east on the Southern State Parkway crashed near Exit 19, according to New York State Police spokesperson Trooper Brittany Burton.

No other cars were involved, she said. State police closed the road until about 11:30 a.m. Sunday.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing and no further details were immediately available.
