A New Jersey man was in good condition after being injured Sunday morning while riding his personal watercraft in Greenport Harbor, officials said.

Matthew Alvarez, 21, of Cranbury, N.J., was injured while attempting to cross a boat's wake just before 10 a.m., Southold police said. He made it to the dock at the nearby Claudio's Clam Bar, where he was treated by Greenport Fire's rescue team.

A Suffolk police helicopter then airlifted Alvarez to Stony Brook University Medical Center for further treatment. Neither Southold police nor Greenport fire officials provided additional details on the accident Sunday afternoon.
