One man was killed when two trucks collided about 12:40 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of Hawkins Avenue and Express Drive North in Ronkonkoma. The impact sent this Dodge Ram pickup more than 60 feet before it struck a building and a tree; its driver was later pronounced dead at Stony Brook University Medical Center. One man was killed early today when two pickup trucks collided in Ronkonkoma, Suffolk County police said.

Police didn't release the name of the crash victim pending notification of next of kin.

The crash happened about 12:40 a.m. on Hawkins Avenue at Express Drive North. John Gentilella, 57, of Centereach, was driving a Ford F350 north on Hawkins Avenue when his truck hit a Dodge Ram that was traveling west, police said.

Paramedics transported the driver of the Dodge Ram to Stony Brook University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 1:29 a.m., police said.

Gentilella was not injured in the crash. Both trucks were impounded and the investigation was continuing. Police ask that anyone with information about the crash to call the Fourth Squad at 631-854-8452 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 800-220-TIPS.
