Police are investigating a one-vehicle crash Thursday morning in Fort Salonga that left the driver critically injured.
Samuel Luby, 46, of Northport, was driving a 2016 Dodge pickup west on Fort Salonga Road at about 7:55 a.m. when he lost control and his truck hit a tree west of Makamah Road, Suffolk County police said.
Luby was taken by police helicopter in critical condition to Stony Brook University Hospital, police said.
Police impounded the pickup for a safety check.
Investigators urge anyone with information about the crash to call the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.
In February this year, two men were killed and a third seriously injured after their vehicle crashed into a tree on the same stretch of road.
