One person was taken to Stony Brook University Medical Center after an early morning accident on the Long Island Expressway in Islandia, the Suffolk County Sheriff's Office said.

The crash occurred about 5:25 a.m. on the eastbound expressway between Exits 57 and 58, the New York State Department of Transportation reported. Two lanes were closed until 6:22 a.m., when the road was reopened.

Sheriffs said the car involved in the crash ended up on its side. The extent of the injuries to the driver were not known. No one was charged.
