$1M road-paving project in Selden complete, officials say
Brookhaven officials on Monday announced the completion of a $1 million road-paving project in Selden.
In addition to milling and paving Dare Road, Hawkins Road, Hawthorne Street, Hemlock Street and Magnolia Drive, the project required the installation of sidewalks, curbs, handicap-accessible ramps and basins.
The project received $264,000 in federal money through the New York State Department of Transportation’s High Priority Project Program. The highway department covered the remaining $720,500, officials said.
Brookhaven Town Highway Superintendent Daniel P. Losquadro thanked the government for financially contributing to the project. Other town officials agreed.
“This is a great example of how different levels of government can work together to help provide funding for infrastructure projects throughout our community,” Brookhaven Town Councilman Kevin LaValle said in a statement.
