2 arrested in Central Islip home burglary
Two Central Islip men were arrested Thursday after they burglarized a home, Suffolk police said.
The male owner of the Central Islip residence was home alone when he heard several loud bangs at his front door around 10:30 a.m., police said. When he came to the door, which had been locked, he was confronted by Emilio Liberato and Anthony Williams, both 31, police said.
"He heard them kicking, and from the time he got up from where he was in the house and . . . [approached] the front door, they were already in the house," said Det. Sgt. John Diffley of the Third Precinct.
Police said the victim began yelling at Williams and Liberato, who then fled on foot. While canvassing the area, police said they quickly found Liberato in the neighborhood. Suffolk County Police Helicopter Four was on routine patrol and located Williams about three-quarters of a mile from the home. The helicopter's staff notified the ground unit of Williams' whereabouts, and he was apprehended.
Liberato and Williams, both of 119 Cone Ave., were charged with second-degree burglary, police said, and will be held overnight at the Third Precinct before they are arraigned Friday at First District Court in Central Islip.
