2 firefighters injured in W. Islip blaze

Two firefighters were taken to a hospital with undisclosed injuries suffered battling a blaze that severely damaged a home early Friday morning in West Islip, officials said.
It was not immediately clear which department the firefighters served with, and fire officials were not immediately available for comment.
The firefighters were taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center by Bay Shore Ambulance, Suffolk County fire officials said.
Firefighters from at least five departments, West Islip, Bay Shore, Deer Park, North Babylon and Babylon, battled the blaze on Pine Avenue that was reported at 12:05 a.m.
The scene was between Dorothy Road and Sylvia Drive, just east of Udall Road. The cause of the fire was not known, and officials said it was being investigated by the Suffolk County police Arson Squad, though the fire was not believed to be suspicious.
