2 new West Nile cases found in Suffolk

Suffolk County health officials said Thursday they had confirmed two new cases of West Nile virus.

A Town of Huntington resident experienced fever, fatigue, body aches and a rash in September, and a Town of Islip resident was hospitalized in August with nausea, vomiting, weakness and dizziness.

Both recovered. Privacy laws prevented officials from disclosing more information about them.

So far this year, three people in Suffolk have come down with the virus. Last August, health officials reported that a Huntington resident had suffered from West Nile virus but recovered.

West Nile virus is spread through the bite of an infected mosquito.
