2 wounded in Wyandanch shooting
Two men were shot outside the Stop One Market in Wyandanch late Saturday night and Suffolk police are asking the public to help find the shooter and his accomplice.
Police said Terrance Jeter, 36, of Wheatley Heights, was standing outside the Stop One Market, at the corner of Straight Path and Centerwood Road, when two men confronted him. One of the men had a gun and shot Jeter once in the back, police said. Authorities would not say what words were exchanged between Jeter and his assailants.
A second victim, Emerson Derisma, 24, of North Babylon, was walking out of the store and was shot in the leg as he tried to run away, police said.
Police said Jeter and Derisma do not know each other. Both men were treated at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip for injuries police described as nonlife-threatening.
Police described one suspect as a man in his early 30s, about 5 feet, 9 inches tall with a heavyset build. The second suspect, police said, is a man in his mid-20s, about 6 feet, 2 inches tall with a thin build and dreadlocks.
Police ask that anyone with information about shooting, which occurred about 10 p.m., to call First Squad detectives at 631-854-8152 or Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS. Police said all calls will be kept confidential.
