Montauk Highway in East Quogue has reopened after a two-car, head-on collision shut it down for more than an hour on Wednesday, Southampton Town police said.

Four people were injured after the driver of a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee fell asleep at the wheel and veered into the path of a 2012 Toyota sedan, said Sgt. Michael Burns.

The accident happened about 4:26 p.m. near the 7-Eleven on Bayberry Lane, police said.

The four did not have life-threatening injuries, Burns said.

The Toyota driver was airlifted with serious injuries to Stony Brook University Medical Center, Burns said. One passenger was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center and another to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center, police said.

The Jeep driver was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center with minor injuries, police said.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks, police said.
