4 injured in Dix Hills crash

A limousine driver suffered chest trauma, as well as neck and back injuries, and three women also suffered neck and back injuries in a two-car crash late Monday in Dix Hills, police and fire officials said.

The crash occurred when the limo and a Range Rover collided at about 11 p.m. near the intersection of Half Hollow Road and Wildwood Drive, a Suffolk County fire official told Newsday. The identities of the injured were not released.

Officials said limo driver was extricated from the wreck by volunteers from the Dix Hills Fire Department using the Jaws of Life.

That driver was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital by the Dix Hills Rescue Squad, officials said. His condition was not known.

The three women, all occupants of the Range Rover, were taken to Huntington Hospital by ambulances from Dix Hills and Melville Rescue.

Their conditions also were not immediately known.

Police said no one was charged in the accident.

Fire officials said about 35 firefighters and rescue personnel responded to the scene with three heavy rescue trucks, four ambulances and paramedic first-responder units.
