A fire at a Deer Park strip mall brought out about 100 volunteers from five fire departments to fight the blaze, officials said.
The fire at 1733 Deer Park Ave., was reported at about 5 p.m. and damaged three of seven stores in the mall, including a laundry, a Chinese restaurant and a cell phone store, fire officials said.
One firefighter suffered a minor injury in the fire when he was struck in the head by a falling object, officials said. He was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, where he was treated and released, officials said.
