5 registered sex offenders arrested in Suffolk
Five convicted and registered sex offenders were arrested in Suffolk for failing to properly register by not supplying the state with required information, law enforcement agencies said Tuesday.
Several law enforcement agencies, including the Suffolk Police Special Victims Section investigators and the U.S. Marshals Service Sex Offenders Investigations branch, took part in the operation that led to the arrests of the following suspects:
Julius Ehrmann, 31, of 400 Bay Ave., Patchogue, a Level 3 sex offender; James Porter, 24, of 133 Suffolk Ave., Central Islip, a Level 3 sex offender; Maurice Trent, 37, of 16 Robert Dr., Huntington Station, a Level 2 sex offender; Ronald Stores, 46, 425 E. 138th St., Apt. 7, Bronx, a Level 3 sex offender; and Ivan Ellis, 49, who has no known address, a Level 3 sex offender.
All five men were arraigned Tuesday in First District Court, Central Islip.
About 24 other cases are still under investigation in Suffolk County, authorities said.
There are hundreds of registered sex offenders throughout Suffolk and Nassau Counties, police said. Information concerning their residences is available to the public through the government website criminaljustice.state.ny.us.
Law enforcement authorities rank sex offenders according to the severity of the crimes they committed, with Level 3 the most serious.
