A five-vehicle crash early Thursday on the westbound Long Island Expressway, just east of Exit 58 in Islandia, reduced traffic to one lane for about an hour, Suffolk County police said.
The crash at 9:15 a.m. left only the right lane open for traffic, a police spokeswoman said, as police, work crews and a tow truck attended to the area. The closed lanes reopened at 10:20 a.m.
Two non-life-threatening injuries were reported, the spokeswoman said, but she had no further details.
Westbound traffic was backed up for several exits, according to cameras at the state Department of Transportation website, informny.com
