New York State Police troopers arrested six drivers -- one for driving while intoxicated and two for driving while ability impaired by drugs -- at a St. Patrick's Day holiday sobriety checkpoint on the Southern State Parkway in Suffolk County, police said.

Police established the checkpoint on the westbound Southern State at Exit 39, Route 231, Deer Park Avenue, in North Babylon Wednesday evening.

Arrested were Bryan J. DePuy, 23, of Wantagh, John Gray, 32, of Bradley Beach, N.J., Adam C. Ellis, 33, of Long Beach, Edward J. Rokas, 46, of East Rockaway, Jason W. Wise, 23, of West Babylon, and Alexis A. Miles, 23, of North Babylon, police said.

Police said Rokas was charged with DWI, while DePuy and Gray were charged with DWAI and unlawful possession of marijuana.

Ellis was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, while Wise and Miles were charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of marijuana, police said. Wise also was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, according to police.

All of the charges are returnable to First District Court in Central Islip, police said. Specific arraignment details were not immediately available.
