Six people were arrested during a Labor Day weekend sobriety checkpoint in Shirley on Sunday, Suffolk County police said.

Police conducted the checkpoint between 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. on William Floyd Parkway at Smith Point County Park.

Of the 571 vehicles that went through the checkpoint, two were seized, police said.

Police arrested five people and charged them with driving while intoxicated: David Luce, 28, of Holbrook; Margaret Long, 56, of Patchogue; Renata Sobocinska, 40, of Middle Island; and two Shirley women, Erin Collins, 41, and Jacquelyn Deresky, 22.

A Mastic man, Omar Ellis, 38, was arrested and charged with driving while ability impaired by alcohol.

A DWI charge involves a blood-alcohol level of .08 or other evidence of intoxication, while a driving while ability impaired charge involves a blood-alcohol level of .05 to.07 or other evidence of intoxication.

All six were scheduled to be arraigned on Monday at First District Court in Central Islip.
