6 charged at Suffolk sobriety checkpoint

Six people were arrested at a Labor Day weekend sobriety checkpoint in Port Jefferson Station on Sunday night, Suffolk County police said.
Suffolk police, New York State Police and the Metropolitan Transportation Authority conducted the checkpoint from 7:40 p.m. Sunday through midnight Monday, police said.
Nearly 1,500 vehicles passed through the checkpoint, which was held on Route 25A, police said.
Five people were arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated: Amy Klem, 29, of Mastic Beach; Jose Rauda, 29, of Centereach; Dorothy Neilsen, 49, of Setauket; Joseph Lattera, 19, of Selden; and Kirk Judson, 55, of Port Jefferson Station.
All five were scheduled to be arraigned Monday at First District Court in Central Islip.
Craig Miller, 31, of Coram, was arrested charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs. He is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Sept. 10.
