The Suffolk County Police Department will welcome 66 new officers in a graduation ceremony Friday at the agency's Brentwood academy.

The graduates have completed 6 1/2 months of academy and field training at the Suffolk County Police Academy, according to a news release.

In addition to the new Suffolk County officers, the ceremony will recognize new Suffolk County deputy sheriffs and officers for Farmingdale State College, Amtrak and several town and village police departments.

The release said 13.3 percent of the new Suffolk officers are minorities, a third are joining the department from other law enforcement agencies and 12 are military veterans.

The ceremony starts at 10 a.m. at the academy, 502 Wicks Rd.
