9/11 statues damaged in Huntington Station
The Second Squad is investigating the vandalism of two 9/11 memorial statues in Huntington Station, Suffolk County police said Thursday.
Sometime Wednesday night or early Thursday, the two statues at East Rogues Path and Albermarle Avenue were removed from their bases and tossed into the street, police said.
One statue was a policeman, the other a firefighter, police said.
Late last month, another 9/11 memorial statue in Lindenhurst also was damaged by vandals, a police spokeswoman said. That statue was a 300-pound dog, honoring canine units that responded to Ground Zero.
The spokeswoman did not know if the two incidents were related.
Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers, 800-220-8477. All calls will be kept confidential.
