A 20-year-old East Moriches man was arraigned Sunday in Central Islip on charges that he raped a woman in her Stony Brook home, authorities said.
Staff in the records department at the jail did not know whether he entered a plea.
On Saturday, Sixth Precinct Det. Lt. William Burke said: "Obviously anybody who was concerned about him will be relieved now, but we didn't think there was a huge threat to the general public. It was not random. He had some knowledge of the family that lived at that home."
Once in the house, he fired two shots and restrained the woman, binding her hands behind her back with duct tape before raping her, police said.
