Cops: 2 in custody after 2 wounded in Southold shooting
Two suspects were arrested after an early morning shooting that wounded two Tuesday in Southold, Southold Town police said.
Police did not release the identities of anyone involved.
One of the victims also suffered what police called "a severe laceration." Both of the victims were transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead for treatment, police said. Their conditions were not immediately known.
The shootings occurred outside on South Harbor Road and were reported at 12:23 a.m. Police said arriving officers found two male victims suffering from gunshot wounds.
Two suspects were taken into custody after a nearby traffic stop. It was not immediately clear if a weapon was recovered. The motive for the shooting also was unclear.
Police did not immediately say if more suspects are being sought in the case and declined to give additional details, saying investigators remained out on the case Tuesday afternoon.
