An aircraft part fell from a plane flying over a Lindenhurst beach Thursday morning, officials said, but no one was injured.

The item, which fell from an aircraft flying from Republic Airport in Farmingdale, landed on Venetian Shores Beach about 11:50 a.m., officials said.

People were on the beach at the time, Suffolk police said. Their investigation of the incident was turned over to the Federal Aviation Administration, police said.

Jim Peters, an FAA spokesman, said, "We'll rerun radar to find out which aircraft it might have come from."

No information was available Thursday regarding the size of the fallen part.
