Alleged DWI driver didn't take cop's advice
The police officer told him he appeared to be drunk and shouldn't drive his car.
But, Southold police said, John V. Neuberger, 41, of Brightwaters, decided to get behind the wheel, anyway.
Neuberger has been charged with driving while intoxicated.
Police said the incident occurred at 10:52 p.m. Sunday on Front Street in Greenport.
They said the officer saw Neuberger "in a severe intoxicated state" and said Neuberger "was advised not to operate his vehicle." But, police said: "Neuberger decided to drive his vehicle moments later."
He was stopped, police said, and failed several roadside sobriety tests. He is scheduled for arraignment Monday.
