Four people were treated at a hospital for injuries Sunday night after an ambulance collided in Bohemia with an SUV that then hit another car, authorities said.
Suffolk County police said a private ambulance was traveling north on Oakdale-Bohemia Road at about 5:50 p.m., when it collided with a Chevrolet Suburban traveling west on a service road of the Sunrise Highway.
The Suburban overturned and struck a sedan that was traveling south on Oakdale-Bohemia Road, police said.
The occupants of the Suburban and the ambulance were taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore with nonlife-threatening injuries, police said.
In an email, Jamie Atkinson, president of Community Ambulance Company, which responded to the crash, identified the private ambulance company as Emergency Ambulance Service. Atkinson said the ambulance’s driver and an EMT, as well as the Suburban’s occupants, were taken to the hospital in stable condition.
Atkinson said the crashed ambulance did not have a patient on board at the time.
