The AMC Shore 8 movie theater in Huntington has been closed by order of the town fire marshal.

A notice posted on the theater on Saturday said: "This structure is unsafe and its occupancy has been prohibited by the Bureau of Fire Prevention of the Town of Huntington."

The notice is dated June 6. The Town of Huntington Fire Marshal did not return a request for comment.

Christine Geed, a spokesperson for the town, told Newsday there was a problem with the septic system. "They have to resolve it before they can reopen," she said.

The theater was closed in March for plumbing repairs but Geed wasn’t sure if the current septic problem is related to the plumbing work in March.

The AMC Huntington Square 12 in East Northport told Newsday it would honor tickets purchased online from Shore 8 while that theater is closed.
