Amityville man arrested in stabbing case

An Amityville man was arrested Sunday on charges that he fatally stabbed another man outside a North Amityville home in December, Suffolk police said.
Jonathan Garcia, 22, was charged with second-degree murder in the stabbing death of Nicholas Murphy, 23, of Bay Shore, outside an Emerald Lane North home in the early morning of Dec. 21, 2010.
Murphy was taken a short distance away by two companions, who called 911 to report the stabbing. Murphy was then been transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, where he was pronounced dead.
Garcia is scheduled to be arraigned on Monday in First District Court in Central Islip.
