Asharoken man injured when bike hit SUV, police say

Suffolk County police said Tuesday they continue to investigate a crash in East Northport that seriously injured a bicyclist.

Police identified the injured bicyclist as Ryan Brown, 19, of Asharoken.

Brown was hurt last Wednesday when, while attempting to cross Laurel Road on his bike, he crashed into a 2004 Ford Expedition, police said. He was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital, police said.

The driver of the Expedition, Peter Ingoglia, 53, of East Northport, was driving north at about 10:30 p.m. when the crash happened.

Ingoglia remained at the scene and no charges were filed.

A hospital spokeswoman said Tuesday that Brown remains at Stony Brook University Hospital and is listed in fair condition.
