Investigators are looking into the cause of a fire that gutted a vacant house in Port Jefferson Station on Sunday morning.

Selden Fire Department Chief Tony Ryan said he received a call at about 10:06 a.m. with the report of a house fire on Parnet Court.

When crews arrived, they found most of the first floor of the house on fire, with flames extending into the second story.

Firefighters from Selden, Coram and Terryville were on scene, dousing the fire within 40 minutes.

Ryan said there was no power to the vacant home, and that the Suffolk County Police Arson Squad was investigating, as was the Brookhaven Fire Marshal's Office.

Two firefighters were sent to John T. Mather Memorial Hospital in Port Jefferson suffering from exhaustion, and were released after treatment, Ryan said.
