A Babylon man was charged with driving while intoxicated after he crashed into another vehicle, seriously injuring himself, Suffolk County police said Sunday.

Police said William Herrera, 45, was eastbound on Long Island Avenue in Deer Park in a 2000 Chevrolet Blazer when he tried to turn left onto Wright Avenue and collided with a westbound Honda Accord. The 4:10 p.m. crash sent Herrera to Stony Brook University Hospital to be treated for serious internal injuries, police said.

The driver of the Accord and his passenger were taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, police said. They were treated for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Detectives ask for anyone with information to call 631-854-8152.
