Suffolk sheriffs cleared to the shoulder of the road bales of hay that had fallen from a truck Wednesday afternoon onto the Long Island Expressway in Holtsville and all lanes are now open, officials said.

The New York State Department of Transportation was called to remove the hay, according to the sheriff's office.

The hay fell off a truck at about 4:45 p.m., temporarily shutting down some westbound lanes between Exits 62 and 63, sheriffs officials said.
