Suffolk County police are investigating a Tuesday afternoon bank robbery in East Farmingdale in which an armed man wearing a surgical mask stole cash before fleeing on foot.

The man entered the M&T Bank branch on Route 110 at about 4:20 p.m., displayed a handgun, demanded cash from a teller, got it -- and fled, police said.

The robber is described as being about 5-foot-9 with a slim build. He was wearing a surgical mask, gloves, sunglasses, a long-sleeved dark blue shirt, a gray hooded sweatshirt and dark blue pants, police said.

Police are asking anyone with information regarding the robbery to call Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
