Suffolk County police are investigating an incident in Smithtown in which three men were attacked with a baseball bat by a group of assailants on Sunday morning.

Police said the men were walking on West Main Street at around 4:25 a.m. when a car stopped and seven men exited the vehicle before attacking the victims with a bat. The attack took place in a parking lot on West Main Street. 

One of the victims was able to gain control of the bat and broke one of the vehicle’s windows, police said. The seven men got back into their car and fled.

Police said the three victims were treated for injuries at hospitals.
