Bay Shore mom hurt in crash

A Bay Shore woman was hospitalized in critical condition after her daughter lost control of a sport utility vehicle and it overturned and struck a tree Wednesday morning in East Islip, police said.
Cindy Neree, 20, was driving a 1999 Grand Cherokee west on Sunrise Highway Service Road North, near Carleton Avenue, when the accident occurred at 10:15 a.m., Suffolk County police said.
Neree's mother, Beatrice Neree, 50, a passenger in the Cherokee, "suffered severe head injuries and was airlifted to Stony Brook University Medical Center," police said.
Cindy Neree was taken by ambulance to Southside Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said.
Police are investigating the accident. The Cherokee was impounded for a safety check.
