Suffolk County police were called to a Bay Shore shopping center parking lot Saturday afternoon after receiving a report of a suspicious package.

A passerby called 911 at about 12:50 p.m. to report the package outside Gardiner Manor Mall off Sunrise Highway, a police spokeswoman said.

Investigators brought a robot to the scene to inspect the package, which was determined to be a package of flour wrapped with duct tape, the spokeswoman said.
