A beach at Heckscher State Park in East Islip has been closed to swimming "due to unacceptable water quality samples," state parks officials said Thursday.
Field No. 6 at West Beach is closed to swimmers indefinitely as a precaution, the state Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation announced. The beachfront remains open to the public.
"Results from additional water quality testing will be reviewed to determine when swimming will once again be permitted," parks officials said in a news release.
