A beach at Heckscher State Park in East Islip has been reopened to swimming, state parks officials said Monday.

Field No. 6 at West Beach was closed Thursday to swimmers as a precaution after testing returned unfavorable water samples, the state Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation said.

At the time of the closing, officials said in a news release that results from additional testing will be reviewed to determine when swimming will be permitted.
