Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone's former secretary, Geraldine Compitello, who was due to be laid off from her $80,000-a-year job on July 1, has become executive assistant at the same pay for the Babylon Industrial Development Agency's chief executive, Robert Stricoff. Compitello was Bellone's secretary for six years when he was Babylon supervisor. IDA officials said her job had paid $70,000 and was vacant for four months. Stricoff is Bellone's friend since childhood, Babylon Democratic chairman and executive vice-chair of the county party committee.-- Rick Brand
