A 14-year-old Bellport resident was struck by a vehicle and airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital on Friday night, Suffolk County Police said.

Officers responded to the crash on Patchogue Yaphank Road, north of Southaven Avenue in Medford, about 5:30 p.m., authorities said. There police found the teen had been struck in the left leg by a 66-year-old North Patchogue man who was driving a 2012 Nissan Altima north on Patchogue Yaphank Road, police said.

No additional details about the incident or the victim's condition were immediately available.

The Altima was impounded for a safety check, but as of late Friday the driver had not been charged in the incident, police said.

Patchogue Yaphank Road near Southaven Avenue was closed Friday evening while the crash was being investigated.
