Toddler killed after being hit by car at Belmont Lake State Park

A toddler was killed after being struck by a motor vehicle at Belmont Lake State Park in North Babylon Sunday, New York State Police said.
The child, identified only as a 2-year-old, was hit by a 2016 Acura in the north parking lot of the park at 2:46 p.m., according to a police department statement. The vehicle was driving forward through the lot at the time, police said.
The child was transported by North Babylon Fire Department ambulance to Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip for treatment of undisclosed injuries.
The child died from the injuries, state police said.
The operator of the vehicle involved in the incident immediately contacted 911 and remained at the scene. Following an investigation, state police determined there was no criminality involved, they said.
