Bicyclist found injured in Hauppauge

Police are trying to determine how an 18-year-old bicyclist was critically injured Wednesday in Hauppauge.

Suffolk County police said the man was found in the road near the intersection of Rabro Drive and Nicon Court in Hauppauge at 5:20 p.m. Police said the man did not know how he was injured and said he was taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore. He was later taken to North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset in critical but stable condition.

Police said the investigation into the incident is considering "all avenues," among them that the teen may have been the victim of a hit-and-run driver. Police are asking anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential, police said.
