Bicyclist in Oakdale hit on service road, Suffolk cops say
A bicyclist was seriously hurt when he was struck by a car Friday morning while crossing the eastbound Sunrise Highway service road in Oakdale, police said.
Suffolk County police said the crash occurred at about 9:30 a.m.
Presley Bizzaro, 76, of Islip Terrace, was riding his bicycle northbound across the service road “when he was struck at the crosswalk by a 1998 Toyota Camry making a left turn from Oakdale-Bohemia Road,” police said in a news release.
Bizzaro was taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore with what police called “serious” injuries.
His condition was unknown.
The Camry driver, Kalpara Sukhwal, 49, of Ronkonkoma, was not injured, police said.
