Bicyclist killed by hit and run driver

A male bicyclist was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver in the Port Jefferson area, Suffolk police said Thursday night.

The bicyclist was hit at the intersection of Route 347 and Route 112 at 9:15 p.m. Thursday. The driver fled the scene. Police could not name the specific community involved.

Vehicular Crime Unit detectives are investigating. Police are withholding the victim's name, pending notification of family.
