Bicyclist killed in Calverton crash
A 34-year-old bicyclist was struck by a Jeep and killed Tuesday afternoon on Middle Country Road in Calverton, Riverhead police said.
Police said Santos Lopez-Hervert of Calverton "entered into the westbound lane of travel" in front of a westbound 2002 Jeep driven by Frank Cisler, 25, of Calverton at 5:18 p.m. and was struck.
Lopez-Hervert was pronounced dead at the scene. Cisler was not injured. Police said the crash occurred near a gas station.
Police said the accident investigation is continuing, but said no charges were filed.
