Biker seriously hurt in Hampton Bays
A motorcyclist on Montauk Highway in Hampton Bays was seriously injured Sunday when his 2005 Harley-Davidson struck a car trying to make a left turn, Southampton police said.
Stephen Cea, 51, of East Quogue, was riding the motorcycle west on Montauk Highway about 12:22 p.m. near the intersection of Bess Lane when a driver in a 2007 Saturn apparently made a left turn, police said in a Monday news release.
Cea was unable to avoid hitting the car. He was airlifted to Stony Brook University Medical Center for treatment, police said. He was treated at the scene by Hampton Bays Volunteer Ambulance personnel, according to a news release.
Citing privacy laws, police said they would release no further information on Cea's injuries.
The accident closed traffic on Montauk Highway between Bess Lane and Terrace Driver for nearly an hour, police said.
