Blustery weather moves into area
Fog, rain, a line of strong thunderstorms, even hail: All were possible Tuesday, forecasters at the National Weather Service said.
The service said the chance of rain was 90 percent and warned of wind gusts in the mid- to upper 30-mph range on eastern Long Island. The Long Island Power Authority reported about 70 Islandwide Tuesday afternoon, including about 40 in Oyster Bay.
Forecasters warned that fog could create hazardous driving in some areas.
High temperatures were expected to be in the mid- to upper 50s, forecasters said.
Arriving flights at LaGuardia Airport were being delayed an average of two hours on Tuesday afternoon, and Kennedy Airport was also reporting minor delays, according to the FAA. Newark Airport reported arrival delays of about two hours and 40 minutes.
Skies will likely clear Tuesday after 9, with a low around 31. There will be increasing clouds Wednesday with highs in the mid-50s.
Showers are again possible Wednesday night, Thursday and Friday, forecasters said. Cloudy skies are predicted to linger Saturday, with rain possible all weekend and until Monday.
