Power had to be cut to downed utility wires draped over a car before workers could rescue the driver, who hit two poles Thursday night in Holbrook, police said.

The driver was going north on Lincoln Avenue in a 2005 BMW when she hit the poles near Half Hollow Road about 11:30 p.m., Suffolk County police said.

The second pole broke, dragging down the first pole and spilling the live wires over and under the car, police said.

Power was cut to the poles, and the driver was extracted by first responders and was taken to Long Island Medical Center, formerly known as Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center, in East Patchogue with minor injuries, police said.
