A BMW crashed into a Melville bagel shop Saturday afternoon, shattering glass but causing no injuries, Suffolk County police said.

The driver, who was not immediately identified, drove into Bagel Biz at 443 Walt Whitman Road shortly before 3:30 p.m.

Police were still investigating the cause of the crash.

Nelson Gentile, a clerk at Bagel Biz, said the car didn’t enter the building, but did shatter two front windows and damage an alcove and one of the building’s support beams.

Gentile said he wasn’t sure when the bagel shop would reopen, but he hoped it would be ready for the busy Sunday morning rush.

“We want to be open tomorrow,” he said. “It just depends when they can get here to board it up.”
