A boat explosion in Babylon Village on Friday left five people hospitalized, Suffolk police said.

The names and hometowns of the injured men were not immediately available.

Police said they arrived at a canal off Sumpwams Avenue just before 5 p.m. for a report of a boat explosion. A total of six people, all men, were aboard, police said.

One man was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious injuries, police said, while four others were taken to other hospitals.

One man was not hospitalized, police said.
