Body found on Hamptons beach apparent victim of suicide, police say

A body found on an Amagansett beach Monday was that of an apparent suicide victim, East Hampton Town police said.
The identity of the victim was not released. Police said only that the victim was male and from out of state.
The victim was found on the ocean beach off the end of Devon Road by a passerby and was reported at 6:51 a.m., East Hampton police spokesman Capt. Chris Anderson said.
He said the man was the victim of "a gunshot, apparently self-inflicted."
Anderson said the investigation was continuing.
